TYPES OF PROOFS

You will receive two different kinds of proofs for each project, color proofs and Ozalid | Plotters | Blue Line proofs.

The color proofs will be either high-resolution digital proofs on digital paper or wet proofs which use the same paper as the final product. The color proofs are normally for the cover / dust jackets / a few color pages of a full color book.

The high-resolution color proofs are the final authority on all issues related to color. They compare more to the original artwork and transparencies & help in noting any variations easily.
Ozalid | Plotters | Blue Line proofs will show imposed pages in correct sequence. Ozalids are not to be used for color guidance. The Ozalid | Plotters | Blue Line proofs are provided for the entire book.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:
Additional color proofs can be requested for specific pages to check final reproduction of images | layout | design at additional cost to ensure correctness and accuracy.

ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL PROOFS
Cost to output digital proofs are more competitive compared with wet proofs if only one set of proofs is required.

PREPARING DIGITAL PROOFS IS FASTER THAN PREPARING WET PROOFS AS THEY HAVE FEWER DIRT, SPOTS, OR REGISTRATION PROBLEMS.
The color tolerance between digital proofs against the press sheet is about 10% to 15%.

DISADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL PROOFS
Trapping, overprints, tint colors, PMS colors do not show up correctly in digital proofing as it is in wet proofing.
Digital proofs are not suitable for b/white | duotone | 4-color b/w images | Lineart images etc.

Digital proofs are printed on digital paper so the color will be different because it is not printed on the “actual” paper.

ADVANTAGES OF WET PROOFS FROM CTP PLATES
The cost to output wet proofs is more economical if several sets of proofs are needed. The color is more accurate for b/w | duotone | 4-color b/w images or for PMS colors. Trapping, overprints, tint colors, PMS colors show up correctly in wet proofing. Wet proofs use the same paper type and weight as will be used for final manufacturing.

DISADVANTAGES OF WET PROOFS FROM CTP PLATES
Wet proofs take longer to prepare than digital proofs. Dirt, spots, and registration problems cannot be avoided. The cost of outputting wet proofs is high if only one or two sets of proofs are needed.
